Yesterday I released a update for NextGEN Gallery, normally it’s should fix bugs , but this time I also integrate a optimization for album queries. Due to the fact that NextGEN Gallery is on a more complicated level it’s hard to cover all combination, features, options…
The current release (v0.94) didn’t show the album’s in the defined order (it’s sorted by id’s). I will fix that again, and hope then to close the 0.9x branch.

I started already on the final 1.00 release. I will rewrite around 30-40% of the existing code and try to integrate a more flexible template engine, ImageMagick support, extended role system, reduced DB queries, more filter functions…

I’d like to ask for something though, about the thumbnails : using the “set fix dimension” option, is there any way to have them crop from the bottom of the image only ? The actual cropping process is a problem for portrait images because the thumbnails will display the center of the picture, while the face for example, is on the top of it on most cases…

Congratulations for this great plugin.
After all the new update in version 0.9.x i think i don’t really need anything new, except from creating a page with each picture.
So instead of openind the image with a lightbox effect, I could select open the file in a new page and let my users comments my photos.
What do you think about this?

just one question about the thumbnails, in maximum quality settings, the quality is still no match with Flickr thumbnails for example. The thumbnails are a bit blurred.
Is there anything to change in the code to improve the thmbnail quality ?

One concern, I’ve noticed these files named “core” followed by random numbers are being created in the “nextgen-gallery” folder on my site. Is this normal? These seem to grow up to 15mb or so and multiple files are created. This ends up using a good chunk of diskspace! Any ideas?

I absolutely love this plugin but when I upgraded to WP 2.5 the plugin stopped working for me 😦 I reinstalled a previous version of WordPress and not it works great again. No gallery plugin even compares to yours. Keep up the great work.

No files named “core” are should be added to the folder by NextGEN. This must be some strange behaviour or missetting at your server. Please check the server log files as well..

If your site is hosted on Unix / Linux, I’d say that you are getting “core” dump files created by the plugin failing in some sense on the server. These files are large. Have a look at the log files to see what error is occuring.

I don’t know if it’s your mistake or some one others, but the plugin NextGen SimpleViewer always wants to update to 0.94 – I think the plugin somehow checks for the nextgen version although it isnt the nextgen gallery.

Another thing: sorting the galleries in an album doesn’t work anymore, they always get sorted by id
Hi, great plugin, we have been using it for awhile now. But for some reason the only page that works in safari and ie, is the first page. Page two and on, show only what the first page shows.
It works great in firefox of course.

This is a great plugin that I’ve been waiting for for years, I tried all kinds of gallery programs that were way too complicated, not standards compliant and hard to integrate into a theme. Then along comes your plugin to fix all that! Keep up the great work!

Hey Alex and Mark,
I understand now.. too bad I didn’t save those files, I could of sent them to you Alex.
Unfortunately the only log file I seem to have access to is my error_log which doesn’t contain anything concerning the plugin.
One thing that might be worth mentioning is that these core files only seemed to pop up as I worked on my galleries, and not by interacting with my website.
Let me know if you want me to send any future core files that I find.

my problem with Black_Minimalism%20.css has been solved.
I just had to choose another theme and switch back to black minimalism.
I just wonder where the ugly space (%20) came from when updating?

When I want to upload an image gif gives me wrong, I said that was not to select any gallery
But if asset to upload pictures with flash there is no problem and the burden of files is carried out successfully.
