Back from Chicago

Chicago

Back from my trip, had a really great 4th of July in Chicago. In the meantime WordPress 3.2 went out and I need to fix a problem with the pagination in the admin section. The new release version 1.8.2 is now ready for download.

  1. Alex,

Welcome back. Before I do ANY more upgrading with Nextgen and WP 3.2 I wonder if your 1.8.2 fixes the following problem. If you can browse with IE8 please check http://ussfranklindroosevelt.com/?page_id=5473 and see my problem with the gallery images. It does not occur with IE7 or Firefox. The problem exists with 1.8.0 and 1.8.1. All my visitors with IE8 will have the same problem….I don’t have access to IE9 so I can’t tell anything about that one.

    Thanks,

    Larry

  3. The problem with IE8 has been fixed. “Compatibility mode” needed to be turned on.

  4. Thanks for the update, it fixed all my problems except for the drop selection tool, doesn’t see all of my pics.
I’m running WP 3.2.1 and Thesis theme 1.8.2
The NextGen check comes up clean.

    Welcome back.

I am having problems with the gallery showing in light box mode. It simply doesnt work.

It worked fine for 1st 2 days but now only opens images singley on page.

    Any ideas why this is?

WordPress and Sportpress thems is up to date, and nothing I try seams to work.

    Thanks

Using the thickbox effect will prevent viewing pictures displayed under posts with matching tags here (‘Activate related images’). Right click and open in new tab still working (the path is correct). Shutter mode works fine.
    Can anyone confirm this?

    Cheers!

The gallery is not displaying the Thickbox properly on the iPad/iPhone. Is the NextGen Gallery compatible with the iPad/iPhone.

Here is the website in questions:

    Thanks!

The Slideshow view will not display vertical images properly. They are cut off at the top and bottom. How can this be fixed? Thank you.

If you are having problems (uploaded, thumbs, everything) with the newest versions of NextGen and WordPress but don’t see any errors in the PHP error log, follow the guidelines below.

Check PHP’s error log and make sure the GD library is enabled, if so make sure that “file_uploads” are enabled (file_uploads = On) and the “upload_max_filesize” is set high (upload_max_filesize = 1024M). If you make any changes, restart Apache so they take effect, which I go over below.

However, there is a bit of an untraceable error in here having to do with PHP’s “memory_limit” setting. I noticed the error in the preview image of the watermark. Located in “Options” > “Watermark” is where you can replicate this ( Error Image ).

(Note: Contact your hosting provider for help if you use shared hosting and/or don’t have access to the shell)

    FIX:

    – Edit your “php.ini” file (php settings) and increase the “memory_limit” setting to whatever you are comfortable with. I changed mine to memory_limit = 2048M since I have a lot of memory to spare.

    – Restart Apache so the changes take effect (For LAMP either “service httpd restart” or “/etc/init.d/apache2 restart” depending on OS)

    – Re-upload the images and everything should be fine.

    Hopefully that helps! Good luck!

    First — love NextGen Gallery!

There are a few hacks that I’ve had to constantly put in place after each and every upgrade in order to get things working the way I’d like.

Is there a good way to email you diffs of the changes (and why I make them)? I don’t need support and I don’t need you to build out features — I’d just like you to consider adding these very short non-impacting fixes to the code base.

I enjoy being able to give back to projects that I use, but I don’t see an easy way to contribute code without it being lost in the void of the WP forums.

    Thanks

Awesome — I’ll check it out, thanks!

    Thanks for the info.

Is there a way via the control panel to enlarge the overall display size of a slideshow? My slideshows are currently about 500 pixels wide and I’d like to increase them to 600 px wide.

Hello! Thank you so much for such a wonderful plug in! My only concern is that for whatever reason, I am having issues uploading pictures now after I installed the latest upgrade… It will download the picture but the thumbnail will not load and result in its inability to display the picture on my website. I have been unable to update my website in a while… Is there something wrong with the browser I’m using or is this a recurring problem? I am using WP 3.2.1 and I have the 1.8.2 version!! Please let me know! Thank you, again!

Thanks for creating this plugin. I am not having trouble uploading pictures, however, only 3 images show in the slideshow rotation. I have 7 images and will be adding a few more. I have tried setting the option to 7 and to 0 (which says it will show all images). Yet only 3 images show.

I am running the most recent version of WordPress and your plugin.

Thanks for any help you can give!
