Bugfix release V1.9.2

Yes, I’m still alive ! Terrible busy with my job at the moment and in the spare time I’m playing Skyrim, which really makes me crazy… So, NextGEN Gallery development has a little break, hopefully after my vacation next week I can catch up some new energy for a restart.

Anyway, I’ve collected a couple of bugfixes the last weeks. The new version 1.9.2 is now avaiable.

Enjoy !

    Thanks for this bug fix. Works great on my site

  2. I keep getting the error “a failure occurred” when the uploader tried to generate the thumbnail images. I’ve searched all over the internet, tried several things, but still no luck. Do you have any tips? Thanks!

  3. Hi Helen. I have exactly the same problem as you. I was hoping this new version would do the trick. But the problem is still there. The error message with creating the thumbnail says there is not enough memory. I haven’t been able to upload any photos for over two months. If anyone has a solution, I’d be really grateful.

  4. Manu says:

    Hi,
    I’m using your great plugin since I started to work with wordpress. I noticed some days ago the thumbs in the compact album view aren’t there where they have to be. Here’s an example: http://arsenie.net/photos
    If you can see, there is a white space upper the thumbs, what’s wrong with it?

  5. elotse says:

    There is still a bug into the template system!
    Templates for gallerys are working well, but templates for singelpic are not working.
    This bug started September 2011 (Release??) Before the templates for singelpic are OK.
    The describtion for this template: NextGen –Einzelbilddarstellung mit Bildunterschrift per Template is on my Site: http://www.msr-support.de/nextgen-einzelbilddarstellung-mit-bildunterschrift-per-template-2642.htm

  6. For those having issues with “out of memory” errors – have you looked/checked memory limits in your PHP configuration?
    Most likely, you are using the default values which are not sufficient to handle image resizing and thumbnail generation on the server side.

  7. Teddy says:

    Thanks for the update and for the excellent plug-in. I’m having trouble with the “add hidden images” functionality. Though I have it checked, on galleries where there is pagination, the lightbox is only showing 25 out of the 40 or 50 images (the ones associated with that page not the entire gallery). Am I not wrong about the purpose of that checkbox in Gallery Options? Again, many thanks for this excellent plug-in.

  8. Merlin says:

    Thanks for this great Plugin, but even in the last version
    there is still this terrible bug when sorting pictures manually (drag & drop)

    Here you can see what i meen: http://klauda.at/screenshot.jpg
    The pointer and the picture an out of “focus” the are not in the place where the should be.
    It is impossible to drag the picture at the right position!

  9. xSEOn says:

    It would be very nice if the gallery link on a album page opens the gallery images for browsing instead of the gallery page. Such behaviour should be an option within the Settings ofcourse so that the admin manually can switch to such view or use the default one.

    Thanks for the great plugin!

  10. Tilley46 says:

    Just downloaded and installed NextGen Gallery on my WP site, and it seems to be just what I have been looking for, though I do have a few questions about altering the size of photos displayed in a slideshow format, as well as where the images in the slideshow actually appear on the respective page. Is there a way to change the default size/locations of the slideshow images? Also, is there a way to have a description of each photo pop up when a user hovers over the image, even while the slideshow is playing? Please advise. Thank you.

  11. FBGamer says:

    do have some problems with Thumbnail resizing… before the update all thumbnails (on index page, category pages etc.) where cropped and now they have fixed dimensions.. no matter what i do (mark and unmark “set fixed dimensions”), there is no change…

  12. Thanks for the advice, Vladimir. It worked. I had to up the php memory limit to more than 65M.

  13. I have been using this plugin for a few years without a glitch. But, now when I try to add images to a gallery I’m receiving this error.

    **Create Image failed. Check safe mode settings**

    According to the setting for this plugin, safe mode is set to false. I’ve tried going through all different forums and I see a lot of people have the same issue.

    I’ve tried setting the folder permissions to 777. I’ve tried deactivating the plugin, then reactivating. Still no go.

    Thoughts? Any help would be MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!

  14. Currently, there’s not an easy way to link images within Gallery overview to a URL, instead of using thickbox or other effect.
    There is a hack using NGG Custom Fields; but unfortunately, it gets written over when updating, and disables thickbox on images without URL links.

    Any chance that the issue of giving image thumbnails the option to link to a URL, or default to thickbox?

  15. Stacey says:

    I have just installed the update 1.9.2 of nextGen gallery and it won’t let me upload any pictures. I get the following message:

    ERROR HTTP ERROR: photo name.jpg 404

    Is this happening to anyone else, is it a bug with the new release? I have had no problems uploading in the past.

    I have tried resizing the photo to make it smaller yet it still has the same error. I have also tried different browsers too.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really need to get product picture onto my website.

  16. same thing is happening to me Stacey 😦 i just upload via ftp

  17. Vincent says:

    Thank you very much the update. I am planning on using your plugin together with Amazon S3. Do you plan on supporting CDN in the future? If not I might be interested in creating a plugin.

    Alex (or anyone that can help),

    I’m looking to add social network sharing buttons to share individual photos when they are displayed. Can anyone provide any guidance on how to accomplish this?

  23. Patrick says:

    Hello, I have a big problem.
    I don’t know why, on all other sites when picture is portrait, it’s thumbnail is automatically cropped to fit “compact” gallery style.
    I’ve tried couple methods but it never works.
    Landscape thumbnails works good, but portrait not…
    I’d be great if someone shows me what options should I use.
    Screen: http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/7262/prob1v.jpg

    My second problem is that I can’t add a album thumbnail. When I click to add thumbnail, there is circle for a few second but there are no photos.
    Screen: http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/6596/prob2b.jpg

    It’s newest version of NGG.

    Thanks in advance,
    Patrick.

Can any one help ?

  25. Olivier says:

    Great job Alex!

    I have tested it and found only two issues:

    One limitation which is : Slideshow restart at the begining on Page reloading. No real Random or Resume option.

    One new bug : The “Scan folder for new images” seams not to work any more.

    Thanks

  26. Tutis says:

    Hello, I have two sites that uses NGallery, and now in second one I have just installed it, firstly it worked perfectly, then something happened after I changed some settings in gallery ACP, now when I can see gallery, but can’t open it, because it shows [Gallery not found]

    Page url: http://siauliaicity.lt/?page_id=37

    In acp gallery and photos shows normaly.

  27. Tutis says:

    I have found out why gallery was ruining off. I uninstalled it properly, then installed fresh one, created album, gallery, placed gallery to album and uploaded images to gallery… Inserted albums code to page – everything works perfect. But when I changed text [Show as slideshow] and [Show picture list] in ACP, galleries got same error “[Gallery not found]”.

    I solved problem by changing those link title texts in admin/install.php and again properly reinstalling the plugin.

    To the myriad posters with bugs and problems: gosh, the poor man is busy playing Skyrim, give him a break!

    Kudos to those posting with help and answers.

  29. I cannot view the upload image page – It is blank, so I am unable to add images to any galleries. Using WP 3.3.1 and your latest update. Any thoughts?

  30. Olivier says:

    Hi

    I’m wandering where the image Id Counter is stored. I don’t mean the one associated with each image, but the one ready to use for the next-upload. It isn’t the highest +1 because if I delete images in NGG, it still increment as if the delete never happened.

    Does anyone knows?

    I need it to have two sites in parallel with identical NGG pictures IDs.

    Thanks in advance

  31. xapient says:

    Bugfix for the missplaced “insertionmarker” (id=”insertionMarker”) and the (id=”dragDropContent”) when sorting gallery items.

    set it’s position argument to “fixed” in ngadmin.css in line 413 and 433

    thx in advance!
    xapient.

  32. Leslie says:

    So I just updated NextGen to the 1.9.2 release and now I can not upload any files whatsoever. I am using Firefox 9.0.1 on Vista.

    I hope that someone can fix this or tell me how to fix it. When I get to the upload images page, I can select images and they show up on the page to upload, but clicking the upload button does nothing. As if the button is not attached to any commands.

    Thanks!

  33. Maurice says:

    I see issues here that look familiar.
    Since a couple of days many of these were also reported on the WordPress forum. Including mine: http://j.mp/yEqwF2
    Look at http://j.mp/zkIX9G as an example.
    Now it’s not possible to insert a picture, gallery or album via the NextGEN-button in a post. Only by typing the code.
    More annoying is that the same happens in adding an image to an album which is not possible!

    Most forum answers are pointing to downgrading to v1.7.4. Please, don’t let me do that!.

    Thanks.

  36. Al says:

    Thanks for the great plugin Alex!

    I have a question about tagcloud results.I have a tagcloud displayed in a widget in my footer using:

    8,
    ‘largest’ => 18,
    ‘unit’ => ‘pt’,
    ‘number’ => 45,
    ‘separator’ => ‘ ‘,
    ‘orderby’ => ‘name’,
    ‘format’ => ‘flat’,
    ‘order’ => ‘RAND’,
    ‘exclude’ => ”,
    ‘include’ => ”,
    ‘link’ => ‘view’,
    ‘taxonomy’ => ‘ngg_tag’,
    ‘echo’ => true ); ?>

    I have a page that displays the results using:

    [tagcloud]

    The functionality works perfectly with tagged photos displaying in a table gallery layout. However, above the thumbnails I would like to add the title of the tag in question in a sentence “Photos tagged as: :”.

    Are you able to help out?

  37. Al says:

    Ah – the code didn’t all display properly. It can be seen at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-nextgen-gallery-tag-name-displayed-on-tagcloud-results?replies=2

    Many thanks for any help!

    Hi Alex,

    My option ‘Scale images to max width 800px or max height 600px’ doesn’t seem to be working for me. The images stay big. Just wondering what you’d recommend to get this feature working for me. There’s nothing special about my WP installation from what I am aware.

    Thanks so much. 🙂

    I’ve been playing with this thing for two hours. I have a gallery created, but nothing I do will put it in a post, or a slideshow widget. Beyond frustrated.

  40. Linda Turner says:

    I installed Next gen gallery 2 weeks ago, purchased monoslider last week, slideshow and pciture gallery now not working, no problem until yesterday. Slidehow just keeps trying to load. Is this a next gen problem or monoslide? Cant use either at the moment, inexperienced user. Please help!!! Many thanks

  41. Gavin says:

    Alex- you have a great plugin but there are some problems with the slideshow in Internet Explorer. Once IE has loaded an image and cached it, it will not reliably generate a load event on the image. So if you do a page refresh on a gallery slideshow you will just see the spinning loading image. It will of course work fine in other browsers.

    As a work around I did this in the loadImage function:

    function loadImage(num){
    // check that stack is not empty and we haven’t alreay loaded 3 images
    if(stackLength > 0 && num <= 3) {
    var img = new Image();
    img.src = stack.shift();
    stackLength–;
    // wait to append image until the load is complete
    if (jQuery.browser.msie) {
    appendImage(img, num);
    } else {
    jQuery( img ).bind('load', function() { appendImage(img, num); });
    }
    }
    }

  42. Drew says:

    Hi Alex,

    One other thing. In the “Manage Gallery” section I’m trying to rotate and image. It says “image rotated” in red letters below the image after I click “update”, but nothing changes.

    Please advise! 🙂

    Best Regards,

    Drew

  43. Megan says:

    I still have all my sites stuck on 1.7.4 because of the problem of the carousel template not working if I use a custom permalink structure of %postname%.

    I have uploaded a test site here with everything up to date, and using the default WordPress theme, just to make sure it wasn’t anything in my theme causing the problem:
    http://megansweb.com.au/nextgentest/
    Notice that if you click on any of the thumbnails, the large picture doesn’t change. And yes, I have done the ‘update your permalink structure one more time’ (several times in fact). It seems the only way to get the carousel to work is to change my site’s permalink structure which is not an option with sites that have already been live for quite a while (and really, the default WP permalink structure is lousy SEO-wise).

    No matter how many times I ask, either here or on the WordPress forums, I can’t get any answer to this, or even an acknowledgement that the problem exists. I have a whole bunch of sites depending on this, and would be happy to pay for a premium support service if it would mean getting the problem fixed, but you don’t seem to offer that option.

    I’m really at the end of my tether with this. It’s been a fantastic plugin, but if this can’t be fixed, I’m going to have to find another plugin to use 😦

  44. Patrick Chuprina says:

    Hello,

    I am creating a site to sell my photographic imagery. In it I’m using nextgen gallery. On this lovely Sunday morning I have been working on speeding up what is accomplished so far.

    Can I limit the downloading of Nextgen to only the specific pages containing the gallery? I noticed in a speed test the files were being downloaded on the front page were the files were not needed. I know other plugins can do this.

    Any help, guidance or answers would be greatly appreciated.

  45. Dave Were says:

    I’ve just upgraded WordPress and NextGen to the latest versions. Only problem, so far, is…

    On a gallery page
    (http://www.sambadoc.org.uk/gallery/?show=gallery)
    displaying 7 galleries if I click on say page 4 of a gallery, all galleries move to page 4

  46. Bill Rowe says:

    I had everything working then all of a sudden, it started to not let me upload pictures to a gallery. Next thing I know I look in Manage Gallery and there are no pictures displayed. I looked at the Gallery directory and the specific galleries and all of the files are there. I tried import gallery with no luck, deleted the gallery directory via ftp and tried to load the pictures again. All with no luck.

    Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. I liked the plugin for the very short period that it actually worked.

  47. Question: I see that there is ownership of galleries but I can’t find how to have ownership of albums. I want my users to create their own album and from there on, add galleries to that album but I don’t want them to be able to mess with other’s albums.

    Am I missing a configuration somewhere? This is the only thing that is preventing me from going live with the application but it is a show-stopper if I can’t have album ownership.

    Thanks in advance for your help. I have tried the forums but haven’t gotten any responses.

  48. swissdude says:

    I have issues with inserting singlepic into posts.

    Ever since the update all inserted pics using singlepic eg:

    [singlepic id=652 w=600 h=421 float=]

    displays the ‘error: file not found’ image.

    Nothing in the back end has changed, the gallery view still works, the lightbox to fullsize image still works and loads …

  49. Megan says:

    OK, so I’ve just figured out that it works if the gallery is on any page other than the home page, and it also works if I put it in a post and have my home page show posts. It just doesn’t work if it’s on the home page when that is a static page.

    So as you can see it is broken here:
    http://megansweb.com.au/nextgentest/

    But if I put the same gallery on an internal page it works:
    http://megansweb.com.au/nextgentest/another-page

    Maybe this information can help you pinpoint the problem?

  50. Boki says:

    Hi,

    I have problem. I installed NextGen (1.9.2) on my WordPress and when I put gallery on my page, it works. My problem is that i cannot create more than 8 thumbnails in one turn. Error message is:

    “Forbidden

    You don’t have permission to access /blog/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php on this server.”

    Memory increasing by uncommenting the code line in the “gd.thumbnail.inc.php” file did not fix this issue. Any idea?

  55. Jos Klever says:

    One of my clients asked me how she could rename images within WP, without deleting and uploading again.

    I found the plugin Rename Media (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rename-media/), which does exactly what she wants, only not for images in NextGen Gallery! 😦

    Does anyone have an alternative for this or better: can this be implemented in NextGen Gallery?

  56. Sierra says:

    Is there anyway to fix this problem that me and others are having? Once I updated my wordpress and nextgen gallery…the UPDLOAD images photo is absolutely BLANK. No errors…just NADA is coming up. The only way I can add stuff is by uploading photos in the correct folder via ftp and then going to EDIT albums..which still comes up. Please let me know how to fix this because this method is highly inconvenient.

  57. Laure says:

    I have some problems with Thumbnail resizing. When I resize/crop manually some of the thumbnails of my album (in the administration panel) to make them look better, it creates blank spaces in the gallery page every 4 or 5 pictures.
    When I regenerate all the thumbnails of the album, the problem disappear.
    Sorry for my english, I hope you understand my problem and will be able to fix it in the next versions.
    Thanks for your job, this gallery plugin is wonderful.

  59. Leslie says:

    I wanted to come back and state that my issue is actually a non-issue. My hosting provider told me they had increased the upload size to 4M but in reality they had not. So my pictures were too big to be uploaded and the Flash uploader did not give me any kind of error message to that effect. When I tried to upload one at a time, that is when I was notified that was the issue. Just wanted to put this out there for others that may be searching to why the Flash upload feature does not appear to work.

    hi there.
    i have about 20 galleries i made with my on my site with NextGEN gallery 1.8.4. it’s a great plugin. i am trying to upgrade it to version 1.9.2 so the galleries will work with WPTouch.
    i used wordpress version 3.1.4
    I cannot seem to figure out how to upgrade the plugin. There is NO upgrade button on the plugin and there is no auto upgrade. I tried checking the box for the plugin on the plugin dashboard and selecting upgrade under bulk actions but it said “this is the latest version of this plugin” for NextGEN gallery 1.8.4
    i tried installing version 1.9.2 while having 1.8.4 still installed to see if it would override the old version, but it said the installation failed.
    i don’t want to lose the 20 galleries i have already made. is there any way to upgrade to version 1.9.2 without uninstalling 1.8.4 and losing all my work?

    Well…I turned off the Lightbox effect to at least get the display remotely working, but I really don’t know what to do other than role the site back.

    Related problem on the migrated site:

  64. Max says:

    Excellent plugin! However, I’ve noticed when trying to set an image as the “Featured Image” (using the 2011 theme), through the NextGEN Gallery the image does not display above the post. Instead, I have to upload “From Computer” the image, and then it displays properly above the post.

  66. Kola says:

    I’d like to thank you very much for providing such a great plugin.

    I got a problem with nggallery permalinks. I have changed my link structure to permalinks but can’t access my album pages anymore. Here is my structure:

    – Overall album containing the albums below
    – album 2007 (containg galleries)
    – album 2008 (containing galleries)
    etc.

    I have inserted the “overall” album on my photos page. When trying to access “/photos/nggallery/2007” it says “album not found”. But when trying to access a gallery directly (e.g. “/photos/nggallery/2007/album-name”) I’m getting the correct gallery.

    Why am I not able to access the albums? What is wrong with my permalinks and how could I fix this problem? (I have already updated the permalink structure)

    Thank you very much!

    Regards.

  67. Ray says:

    I had to roll back to 1.9.1. after up grading to .3 (the day of release)my pages would constantly crash with flash errors. I could not find out which plugins were not playing properly so I just manually removed .3 and loaded .1 I removed 3 other gallery related ones before fixing it with the removal of .3

    I also had the album not found error. I apologize for not recalling the exact fix, but I found during the update the links had all been changed. I thought I just refreshed the permalinks, after first trying to manually fix them all.

  68. Baeldaeg says:

    About the tagcloud: it displays only a maximum of 45 tags in the cloud. This can be easily fixed in your code (as I have mentioned earlier via twitter) via the following change in nggfunctions.php, nggTagCloud() function:

    $defaults = array(
    ‘smallest’ => 8, ‘largest’ => 22, ‘unit’ => ‘pt’, ‘number’ => 0, // 45, [2012-01-16: remove limit (maximum nr. of. tags)]
    ‘format’ => ‘flat’, ‘orderby’ => ‘name’, ‘order’ => ‘ASC’,
    ‘exclude’ => ”, ‘include’ => ”, ‘link’ => ‘view’, ‘taxonomy’ => ‘ngg_tag’
    );

    The 45 is replaced with a 0, which denotes no limit.

  69. Fiona says:

    Just updated and it’s working a treat but how do I get rid of the ‘Show as slideshow’ text?

    Managed it before but just can’t seem to get rid of it this time.

  70. This is a site that I created for a client that WAS WORKING PERFECTLY. The Client took over the management – and was excluding a photo – and look what happened. Not sure whatelse they ‘tweaked” http://www.primovision.com – click on any gallery.
    I have this with WP-eStore as the shopping cart. In the photo galleries themselves the all the photos don’t show up – but are little red Xs. But when I look via FTP the file and photos are there.

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello,

    Is it possible to make one album or gallery with 3 column and the other with one?

  80. Christian says:

    Hi Alex,

    first of all – great Plugin. We love it! Only one thing I can´t solve. I display 20 Images (e.g. out of 40) on the first page (BlogPage) If I start the gallery it stops exactly at 20 Images, regardless if there are more in the Gallery. You have to click on Page 2 to see the others. How to solve?

    Regards

  81. Hello Alex,

    I recently installed the NextGen Gallery plugin to my 3.31 site.

    I have added the following album code to a new Post located at http://tibesar.com/2012/03/10/phillip-john-and-candice-brown-tibesar-photo-album/ :

    [album id=1 template=extend]

    When you select the listed gallery link “PJT Boise Zoo” it does not display the 6 thumbnails – it just displays a new Post with no thumbnails in it.

    Why aren’t my selected galleries appearing please?

    Thank you so much!

    SVN repo ?

  84. Have used Next Gen for years – the old version works fantastically on my photo site but the new version 1.9.2 is not working at all. I created an album, but when I try to add it to a page or post, the popup window wont show any albums at all. Is there a way to download the old version for my site until the bug has been worked out?

  85. cheryl says:

    Gallery is working just fine except for one little issue and I don’t see any settings to change it. If I have photos that were taken vertically, they still show all stretched out in a horizontal format. Is there a way to change that so that the photo will show as it should in either a vertical or horizontal format. thanks so much!

  86. onerock says:

    Does anyone know of a way to filter the tagclouds to reference the specified gallery images only? Something like [tagcloud id=844]

    I would love to have this feature! I have over 800 galleries that would have tags that would only pertain to the gallery the cloud would be in. I am so interested in this feature that I would be willing to pay for it. 🙂

  87. onerock says:

    I neglected to put in my previous post that this is the absolutely greatest gallery plugin there is! I have found nothing that even comes close when I embarked on building the website.

  88. jedeso says:

    thx wayne. i have tried this. in fact, funny enough i am even in the thread with a post from 7 months ago. i’ll keep trying though…!

  89. Alison says:

  91. Sam Munro says:

    I had the same thumbnail generating errors etc mentioned above, I found that a quick fix is to select the files you wish to add to a gallery and create a zip file. Uploading a zip file got me past the errors. Hope this helps.

  92. Sam Munro says:

    Dennis3107, this also confused me a bit, until I realised that you have to first create the gallery before you can select it.

  93. Tuviere says:

    Great plugin love it,

    But am having a little big issue:-(

    After installing the NextGen Gallery plugin on my site am having issues with my front page. The main post sliders Text on my front page is now centered aligned. Its suppose to be Left Aligned.

    The thumbnails in the blog list is also been stretched right now horizontally.

    And how do i move the navigation buttons (Next / Prev) from the bottom to the top of the images Slider.

    And how do i Show image description (Text) on the body of the image?

    Thanks again l

  94. Dennis3107, have you tried uploading photos by going to Add Galley/Images option under Galleries? (not under media) There you have the option to select the gallery to load images into. You need to create the gallery first before you can upload into it.

  95. Hey there, Im pretty excited to get the picture portion of my website up. Hopefully you can help me fix the little error on the thumbnail of the album cover that shows up on my page. If you visit the link http://www.coco.fm/pictures you will see that the thumbnail image is not perfectly centered and is rather dropped a bit. Im sure there is a code within the plug-in editor that would allow me to fix it, im just not too familiar with code. Please help, thank you!

    I need to have the contrast between the alt text and background greater when displayed as a slide show. Title text is perfect. How can the alt text be modified so the contrast is greater, even white text would be ok? See the slide show at the bottom of the page at “http://sprarts.org/celebrate-the-arts-2012/.”

    I am not a programmer and so I stumble around best I can. I don’t know where to go for support! I posted this question twice in WordPress Forum but received no response. If this is not the right place, please let me know.

    Thanks

    Hi Alex, seems that your plugin is a cool tool and exactly what I need. Unfortunately I seem to be too stupid to get it running. I activated it, created a NGgallery and added some pics. When I’m no on the page editing site I see the symbol to add a NGgallery. But when I click on “search a gallery” its searching and searching and searching and the “wheel” is running for minutes without any success (no message, just the wheel). What am I doing wrong? Thx for your support, best regards, Stefan

    Plz can anyone help Me Urgent…..

    We have downloaded NextGen plugin 1.9.3 and installed and activated it.

    We have created a sub dir of wp-content called gallery and set permissions for full access.

    We are getting the following error when we try to create a new gallery.

    Unable to create directory wp-content/gallery/brunswick!
    Directory wp-content/gallery/brunswick is not writeable !
    Unable to create directory wp-content/gallery/brunswick/thumbs !

    We have checked with the host and the permissions are set for full access and the host tech support has written a php script to confirm gallery folder is full access.

    The host feels the issue is related to NGG referencing the wrong path to the gallery
    folder.

  102. Steve says:

    Pls help! My images used to open in a light box, now they just open in the browser: http://mountainstatebrewing.com/gallery/

    Not sure what happened. I had installed NextGen Optimizer, but then deactivated/deleted – it was then I noticed the problem.

  103. Seren2.0 says:

    Hi @ all

    @Asad why did u have to create the gallery subdir by your own? i never had to do this.
    gallery directory permissions should have webserver user access (rwx) for uploading pics/creating galleries.

    I’m still dealing with this problem:
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-nextgen-gallery-image-upload-fails-as-user-with-http-error-mem-error?replies=1#post-2773579

    is anyone able to verify this?

  104. Beth says:

    I am having the same problem as Alison – getting an http error and unable to upload any new images but no trouble with any existing images or functionality. The dialogue goes through the motions of uploading and thumbnail creation without a problem, but when I go to the gallery, the new images have no thumbnail and when clicking on them they take me to an http error page. I have tried using different browsers, different operating systems, with/without Flash upload, uploading a zip file – all with the same error. Running v1.9.3 on WP3.3.1. Looks like others on the WP forums are having the same issue. I really love this plugin and rely on it heavily for our image-intensive site, please help!

  105. Anita says:

    I too would love to be able to click through to a designed URL when I click on a thumbnail on a page, rather than clicking through to the image source. Please consider this for the update?

    Thanks! Great app, but still learning to navigate it.

  106. Petra Leinemann says:

    I really need to be able to click on a thumbnail representing a gallery within an album, and have that open up the album in a lightbox directly – NOT having it reload the page or load up a ‘gallery’ page. The album is far down on a long page of content and if a link reloads the page or loads and album page, the website users (NOT a technical audience) are not going to understand what’s going on. They’ll have no idea they’re supposed to scroll down until they get to pretty much the same place they were before, and then have to click again on the same image to open the lightbox. Seems like a totally unnecessary extra step, and isn’t good for usability.

    Contact 7 form in its last version seems to break the nextgen gallery flash upload :
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/contact-form-7-breaks-nextgen-gallery-flash-upload

    fix :
    in the NextGen file: ngg-config.php

    from:
    require_once( WP_LOAD_PATH . ‘wp-load.php’);

    to:
    require_once( WP_LOAD_PATH . ‘wp-admin/admin.php’);

    This should do the trick…

  116. kellie says:

    When trying to insert a slideshow from the admin area (“Add NextGen Gallery” button), the dropdown arrow keeps spinning when selected and won’t allow for a slideshow to be chosen. If I manually enter [slideshow id=1] in the HTML, I get the spinning dial when viewing the page in a browser, and slideshow never loads. I’ve tried deleting the plugin and reinstalling again, as well as reloading all images in galleries/albums. http://newviewpainting.com/test/
